Sophie specialises exclusively in clinical negligence work in a wide variety of areas. She feels passionate about securing compensation for patients who have suffered life changing injuries through negligent treatment and who desperately need that compensation to be able to rebuild their lives. Sophie firmly believes that litigation is an essential form of regulation that improves patient care and can prevent the same mistake from being made twice. She actively engages with her opponents to seek confirmation of what changes have been made to improve systems, processes and patient safety.
Sophie has a special interest in cases involving delays in diagnosis of cancer, negligent surgery, obstetric mismanagement, avoidable amputation and injuries resulting in death. As well as running her own caseload, Sophie works with Stephen Webber (Head of Claimant Division) on complex cases including brain injury cases as well as secondary victim psychiatric injury, still birth and spinal injury claims.
Sophie delivers an empathetic and dedicated approach and is conscious of the traumatic experiences her clients have often been through. She is also conscious of how daunting the legal process can be and strives to deliver clear and straightforward advice to her clients without the legal jargon.
