The Serious Injury team are proud to be supporting this year’s Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT) GloWeek which is running from 31st October – 4th November.
The Child Brain Injury Trust is a charity which supports the families of children who have acquired a brain injury. The charity provides support to families who can often feel alone, they provide information about what has happened and provide advice as to how to cope in this situation. In addition, the charity also provides support to professionals who work with children and young people with acquired brain injuries.
Within the Serious Injury department at Hugh James we understand the important work that The Child Brain Injury Trust carry out and the positive impact that this charity has on the families of children with acquired brain injuries. The Serious Injury department represent and support a large number of children who have suffered traumatic brain injuries. We are therefore aware of the impact that brain injuries can have upon the individual child and their families.
On this basis the Serious Injury department are incredibly happy to be supporting, once again, the Child Brain Injury Trust GloWeek. The purpose of GloWeek is to raise awareness of being seen, not hurt when the days become shorter in the winter months. The Child Brain Injury Trust has requested that this year people pledge to support the campaign by having a conversation with a child or young person about the importance of road safety and being bright when out and about. Members of the department have therefore been supporting the campaign by having these conversations with their own children and promoting the message of ‘Be Seen, Not Hurt’. In addition, the department also arranged to wear bright colours to the office in support of this worthwhile cause.
The Child Brain Injury Trust are also holding a fundraising competition for GloWeek which asked for people to submit their glowing superhero pose outdoors to promote the GloWeek message. The department therefore decided to get their children involved and submitted an entry of some of their children striking their best superhero poses!
It is clear to see that as a department Serious Injury have embraced the ‘Be Seen, Not Hurt’ theme and have promoted an incredibly important charity that provides such vital support for so many children and their families.
