We’re excited to announce the renewal of our partnership with South Wales Football Association, retaining headline sponsorship of all SWFA Cup competitions for the 2024-25 season. The renewal will continue to support the full line up of men’s, women’s, boys,’ and girls’ football competitions in the area, and our shared commitment to promoting sport for all.
Founded in the South Wales valleys more than 60 years ago, Hugh James has a proud history of supporting grassroots sports, and now boasts one of strongest multi-disciplinary sport sector law practices in the UK.
As a supporter of the historic SWFA’s Men’s Senior Cup since 2019 Mark Loosemore, Head of Sport, is pleased the renewal has evolved to feature the Women’s Senior Cup, Sunday Intermediate Cup (Danny Gomes Memorial Cup), the Girls’ U14’s & 15’s Cup, the Boys’ Cup U14’s, 15’s & 16’s, following the firm’s acquisition of Loosemores Solicitors in 2022.
When the action kicks off in September, a record 280 teams and more than 5600 players are expected to flock to the region’s community pitches across the various competitions. Football fans will also notice a fresh look to the partnership, after the firm revealed its new brand identity earlier this month. You can follow all the action on the Cymru Football App, found in the App store and Google Play store, where it’s free to download.
Hugh James Partner Mark Loosemore commented:
“The SWFA Cup game has gone from strength to strength, now attracting record numbers of men, women, boys, and girls playing football across the South Wales region. We’re absolutely thrilled to continue our sponsorship with the SWFA this year, and to continue to support a diverse and inclusive participation environment for new and existing players in the region. As sports fans first and professionals in the sports sector second, we’re really looking forward to the season ahead.”
Geoff Buckingham, General Secretary of SWFA, commented:
“We are delighted to once again be partnering with Hugh James for the sponsorship of all SWFA Cups and thank Mark and all the team at Hugh James for their continued support which help us to grow grassroots football our area, especially the women’s and girls’ game which is growing at the fastest level of football played at grassroots. The South Wales FA Senior Cup is one of the oldest competitions in South Wales with the first final being played back in 1894.”
